Segesta

This beautifully preserved greek temple in Segesta, Sicily has survived more than 20 centuries largely because it was never finished — invading armies never saw a need to knock it down.  I loved the way that daylight attaches itself to the slender columns and how the temple dominated the hillside with its quiet, elegant presence.
