At first , standing in the deserted Forum by night seemed spooky — like being the minor character in a bad horror film whose ugly murder alarms the city. Later, however, these ancient stones seemed comforting. After all, they’ve stood here for twenty centuries witnessing the rise and collapse of several empires.
